The Kenya Institute of Puppet Theatre in Partnership with Konrad-Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) – Kenya have been implementing activities on the use of puppetry and Folk Media in enhancing community participation and involvement in governance and democratic processes. The project, titled Enhancing Political Participation through Puppetry/Folk Media specifically aimed  at increasing citizens’ knowledge on democratic governance through mounting community mobilization and education using participatory puppetry and folk media performances. As the Covid-19 pandemic continues to spread and the government suspension of community gatherings and physical engagement, KIPT adopted the digital communication strategies and platforms to keep communities informed on political and governance issues.

As an action oriented community based puppetry project, the project has been very successful. It combines  both virtual and physical in approaches in community engagement.
